AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE

Anna (played by multi award-winning actress Maria de Medeiros) and Mara, an Italian lesbian couple, are on the way home from a holiday in Tunisia. As they head past customs Anna realises they have a stowaway in the car, but she says nothing to her partner. Back on Italian soil, Anna stops to let the young man out of the boot and into their lives. Brushing aside Mara's objections, she finds him a job in her brother's warehouse and lets him sleep on the couch. Seemingly passionately in love, fractures in the female duo's relationship are rudely exposed. The script, co-written by director Puccioni, skilfully switches between the three protagonists revealing the backgrounds and motives of each as it builds towards its pent-up conclusion. JN
